Lockheed and Aerion to develop supersonic business jet

A new configuration of the AS2 features a T-tail and a natural laminar flow wing with a higher-aspect ratio than previous concepts of the aircraft.

The engines are also moved from the trailing edge of the wing to the leading edge, as a result of a design collaboration since last May between GE and Aerion.

The MOU signing comes after GE has completed the final configuration for the AS2’s 3 engines, says Brad Mottier, vice-president and general manager for GE’s business and general aviation and integrated systems division. [...]
