Russia’s T-50 fifth-generation fighter aircraft will enter flight-test with new engines in the fourth quarter of next year.
The Sukhoi-designed jet is also known as Pakfa (Russian acronym for Perspective Aviation Complex of Frontal Aviation).
More detail about the T-50’s weapons fit has recently emerged.

PAK-FA ..... si va verso una nuova fase di collaudi .....
Russia’s T-50 PAKFA fifth-generation stealth fighter is about to undergo flight testing by military pilots for the first time.
The Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) said on January 6 that it would take delivery this year of five of the aircraft that have been flight-tested by Sukhoi at the Gromov Flight Research Institute (LII) in Zhukovsky.
But the VKS, which since last year has encompassed the Russian Air Force and the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces, made no further mention of any order for production aircraft.
According to a spokesperson for the United Engine Corporation, Russia's Sukhoi T-50 (PAK FA) fifth-generation fighter aircraft is expected to carry out its first flight with a new engine in the fourth quarter of 2017.
The Russian air force will continue to purchase advanced Sukhoi heavy jets this year, but procurement of Sukhoi’s next-generation T-50 fighter is slipping beyond 2018, Deputy Defense Minister Yury Borisov revealed during his tour across United Aircraft Corp.’s facilities last week.
The air force is expecting more T-50 prototypes this year from the Sukhoi facility in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, in Russia’s Far East, Borisov said.
“Three new aircraft that this facility will deliver in 2017 will join the first stage of [evaluation] trials,” he said.
The first T-50 prototype made its initial flight in January 2010.
Seven prototypes and several airframes have been assembled for ground tests.
According to Borisov, the first stage of the evaluation trials is expected to end in 2018.
After that the military may approve the fighter’s serial production and place the first order.
The T-50 purchases will be included in the new defense procurement plan for 2018-25, which has not been approved.
Sukhoi’s T-50 is intended to replace Russian air force Su-27 and -30 aircraft.
Because of ongoing delays, the air force continues to purchase the latest modifications of the Flanker family.
"Tutto procede secondo i piani prestabiliti" .....
Just when its production was about to take off, the Indo-Russian fifth-generation fighter aircraft appears to be "lost" because Russians are demanding an "unaffordable price for the aircraft," according to a senior Indian Air Force official.
The Russians are demanding more than $7 billion as part of India's share in the development of the FGFA.
The Russian side argues that the higher price is justified because the aircraft's development will include transfer of technology of several high-tech systems.
"India is not in a position to pay this kind of money, and the aircraft project appears to be lost " the official said.
Senior IAF leadership recently expressed apprehension to the Ministry of Defence, claiming the proposed FGFA program with Russia does not meet desired requirements like U.S. F-35 fighter type capabilities, disclosed a senior IAF official.
That official added, that “IAF is not keen to continue with the program.”
The proposed FGFA program does not meet desired stealth and cross section features compared to a F-35 fighter, the official explained, thus major structural changes are needed that cannot be met in the existing Russian prototypes.
The Item 30 engine is described as a generation ahead of the AL-41FM1 that powers the other Su-57s.
It provides about two tonnes more thrust at takeoff, at 17,000 kg (37,500 pounds) and therefore gives a notable boost to the Su-57’s thrust-to-weight ratio.
Unlike the older practice of one design bureau heading the development process, the new engine is a joint effort of several specialized design houses and engineering teams at manufacturing plants, each taking work packages from the central office of the United Engine Corporation (Russian acronym ODK).
Key companies taking part in the development effort for the Item 30 are UMPO in Ufa, Saturn in Rybinsk, and Salut in Moscow.
Mosca. 6 gennaio.
Israeli sources assess that Russia has sent dozens of new weapon systems to Syria, to undergo testing under combat conditions.
But the Su-57's arrival – which places two of the world's most advanced stealthy combat aircraft within close proximity – creates a unique situation.
While Israel has not reacted officially to the development, a senior source says there is no doubt that Moscow has sent its newest fighter to the region in order to test it against Western technologies.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu confirmed on Thursday that two Russian fifth generation Su-57 fighter jets were carrying out two-day combat testing missions in Syria.
The statement was made after the Russian Kommersant newspaper reported, citing its military sources, that the Russian fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jets had been deployed to Syria to test radar systems and electronic warfare.
..... https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/2018 ... l-reports/ .....
However, the minister called the satellite images of the Su-57 in Syria, previously circulating in the media, fake as the jets were kept in hangars and never stood side by side.
"Concerning the various satellite photos, I can say that it's not 95 [1995] anymore - such planes never stand alongside each other," Shoigu told reporters.
"The photos that were published - I do not know where they came from, because all the planes were in shelters all this time. I hope that this year we will complete a full cycle of tests and this will be another surprise for our colleagues," he stated.
The Russian top military official specified that the jets had returned to Russia a week ago.
Missioni in Siria?
