V-22 per Israele ..... non c'è ancora una decisione definitiva .....
The Israeli government will soon be called on to make a final decision on the nation's planned purchase of the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey tiltrotor.
Defence minister Moshe Ya'alon wants to cancel the proposed deal, while the air force is pushing to sign up to the type, according to the contents of a letter of agreement with the USA.

I Marines lo vogliono armare .....
The U.S. Marine Corps wants to add precision-guided munitions—most likely forward-firing missiles—to its growing fleet of MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor transports, which take off like helicopters but cruise like airplanes thanks to their rotating engines.
“Enhanced offensive weapon systems on the MV-22 will provide increased capabilities for the SPMAGTF-CR and employment options to the combatant commander,” the Marines’ 2015 aviation plan explains.

In Israele ..... litigata a livello governativo (dopo quella recente sugli F-35) anche sui V-22 Osprey .....
The proposal to equip the Israeli air force (IAF) with the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey has spurred a heated debate in the country’s cabinet.
While many in the Israeli defence forces (IDF) see a clear requirement for the tiltrotor aircraft, others consider it a “nice to have”, and very low on the shopping list.
Last night, a long-awaited meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Yair Lapid ended in complete disagreement – and with talk about elections in March 2015.

Frazionamento .....
In October, a team of four MV-22 Ospreys landed in Liberia in support of the mission to help control the spread of Ebola.
In terms of humanitarian missions, it was a normal day in the Marine Corps, but behind the scenes, the arrival of the tiltrotor aircraft was the result of one of the biggest changes in the way the aircraft deploys since it entered the fleet.
For the last year and through the mission to fight Ebola in West Africa, the Corps has occasionally deployed the Ospreys in small detachments instead of full-sized squadrons.
Given the aircraft's long range and speed, combined with a need for aviation support in mission around the globe, it sometimes makes sense to send small Osprey detachments rather than a full 12-aircraft squadron.

A KC-10 tanker escorted and refueled a flight of five Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft en route to exercise Cobra Gold in Thailand, earlier this month.
"Not only did we conduct two aerial refuels, but we effectively showcased the expanding envelope of the MV-22 and its ability to range the entirety of the Pacific Command" area of operations, Medium Tilt-Rotor Squadron 265 Commander Marine Capt. Victor Bockman said in a release.

"It is a very capable platform that can hold more fuel than the C-130s we are used to working with".
The KC-10 transferred 40,000 pounds of fuel on a 2,000-mile trip from Clark AB, Philippines, to U-Tapao AB, Thailand, additionally acting as a communications relay for the Ospreys.
A KC-10 from Travis AFB, Calif., previously tested aerial refueling operations with an Osprey off the coast of California last October, according to a release.

Ottimismo .....
Bell Helicopter arrives at Paris confident that production of the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor will extend well into the mid-2020s, despite output falling this year to 21 aircraft from 2014’s high of 37 units.
Produced in partnership with Boeing, the Osprey has so far secured only the US Marine Corps and US Air Force as customers.
The programme entered into its second multi-year contract with Washington late last year, guaranteeing production until 2020.
However, Bell chief executive John Garrison believes further domestic deals – the US Navy says it intends to procure up to 44 V-22s for its carrier onboard delivery (COD) requirement – allied to export orders, will secure the programme well into the middle of next decade.

Poco ma sicuro ..... faranno di tutto per appiopparcelo .....
Boeing believes it can build on a recent contract award from the US Navy for the V-22 Osprey and offer the tiltrotor to other future operators of the Lockheed Martin F-35B short take-off and vertical landing fighter.
Bell Boeing will supply 44 Ospreys - designated as the CMV-22B - to the USN to replace the service's Northrop Grumman C-2A Greyhound carrier on-board delivery (COD) aircraft.

Previous trials have qualified the Osprey for carriage of the Pratt & Whitney F135 engine that powers all variants of the F-35.
Two countries plan to operate the B-variant of the fighter from carriers: the United Kingdom and Italy.

Ne parla anche DefenseNews .....
While Boeing officials would not mention specific customers, countries that operate carriers or carrier-like ships include France, Italy and Japan, and Britain will soon field two large carriers.
Another tie-in, Parker said, is the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
"We can carry the F-35B power modules," he pointed out, necessary to resupply US Marine Corps short-takeoff-vertical-landing versions.
"Countries that are going to fly the F-35B intended for shipboard use would be good candidates for having V-22."

Carrier Onboard Delivery (COD) ..... Boeing avvia il programma .....
A $151 million contract awarded to V-22 tiltrotor manufacturer Bell-Boeing this week allows engineers to get started designing the US Navy’s future Osprey variant, the CMV-22B, which is replacing the Northrop Grumman C-2 Greyhound twin turboprop in the aircraft carrier logistics role at sea.
Based on the US Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey variant, the navy’s “CMV” tiltrotor will come equipped with extra fuel bladders to extend its range from 860nm to approximately 1,150nm.
