“The container for the engine is too large to be carried in the aircraft,” said Bell CEO John Garrison on the eve of Heli-Expo 2014.
He said the engine would instead be mounted in the frame, allowing the cabin of the aircraft to act as the engine’s container.
It would not include the lift fan of the F-35B.

Se i numeri sono esatti: V-22
Cargo Hold Length: 24 feet, 4 inches (7.41m);
Width: 5 feet, 11 inches (1.80m);
Height: 6 feet (1.83m)
http://www.theaviationzone.com/factsheets/v22_specs.asp

Per il Merlin ho trovato questi

http://www.ik4hdq.net/AW101.pdf

The US military wants to give the Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey new eyes and the ability to target enemies from afar by installing a multispectral imaging and targeting sensor system.
US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) says in a new sources-sought notice that it is developing common mechanical and electrical interfaces that would allow any V-22 – including the CMV-22B type being procured by the US Navy – to carry a gimbaled multispectral sensor.
Those common interfaces will be ready by June 2017.

Bell Helicopter is touting its co-developed V-22 tiltrotor for the German air force’s heavylift rotorcraft requirement, despite the programme having largely focused on only two other options to date.
While a request for proposals from Berlin is still pending, it has been widely considered that the two main contenders for the Sikorsky CH-53G replacement need are the new CH-53K and the Boeing CH-47F Chinook.
However, Richard Harris, vice-president of international military sales for Bell, told FlightGlobal at the Royal International Air Tattoo that the company is considering offering the V-22 for the requirement, and believes it has key attributes that would appeal to Germany.

Tutta colpa del pilota .....
The pilot of an MV-22B Osprey was at fault for a December 2015 crash aboard the amphibious transport dock New Orleans, an investigation into the incident found.
“The aircraft commander, failed to ensure the safe and orderly execution of the flight to the USS New Orleans,” according to the official investigation report, which Marine Corps Times obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request.
One factor in the crash was that the pilot underestimated how much weight the Osprey was carrying, the investigation says.

U.S officials said that an Osprey, a tilt-rotor military aircraft, went down in a “crash landing” at a staging area near the site of the operation, but said the mishap was not believed to be caused by militant fire.
The disabled Osprey was then intentionally destroyed.
Two service members were injured in that landing.
The Osprey had been sent to recovered the forces wounded in operation.

MV-22 ..... i Giapponesi lo considerano pericoloso .....
The U.S. is in talks with the government of Japan to address its concerns about the continued operation of U.S. MV-22 Ospreys over Japan following a crash Saturday in Australia.
----- ----- ----- ----- -----
The crash comes nearly eight months after two incidents involving Ospreys in Japan.
On Dec. 13, an MV-22B Osprey went down in shallow water off Okinawa after its rotor struck a refueling line.
Of the five Marines onboard, at least two were injured.
That same day, another MV-22B Osprey landing gear failed to work, so the aircraft landed on reinforced cushions at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma.
None of the crew was injured.
After the crash, Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera announced he had requested that the U.S. cease Osprey flying operations over Japan.
The country, particularly Okinawa, has been wary of the tilt-rotor aircraft and repeatedly voiced its concerns over Ospreys flying over its population since the aircraft were deployed in 2012.

Two Troops Injured, Osprey Destroyed in Crash in Syria .....

Two service members were injured and a US Marine Corps MV-22 was destroyed after a hard landing early Friday in Syria.
The two service members were evaluated for injuries and taken to a treatment facility, where they were released, US Central Command said in a statement.
The other passengers and crew were not injured.
The crash was not caused by enemy fire.
The aircraft could not be salvaged and was left inoperable, a defense official told CNN.
It was the second time an MV-22 was destroyed after a hard landing in the Middle East this year.
In January, a US airstrike destroyed an MV-22 that crashed in Yemen during a special operations raid.
