I motori surriscaldati invece possono rovinarsi irreparabilmente oltre i cinque minuti continuativi sopra M 2,6.

Lavori in corso .....

The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor may be the world’s greatest air superiority jet, but the supercruise fighter came with some major structural flaws that are still being addressed.
One $350-million programme in particular is making a mix of five major structural changes to 162 aircraft, including a mid-fuselage and engine bay retrofit, just so each can reach its promised service life of 8,000 flight hours.

Riparazioni ..... lunghe e a caro prezzo ..... #-o
Mishap F-22 to be Fixed .....

John A. Tirpak (08/4/2015)

The Air Force awarded Lockheed Martin a $64-million modification to a previous contract to repair F-22 No. 02-4037, which was damaged in a training accident at Tyndall AFB, Fla., in 2012 .....
http://www.defense.gov/contracts/contra ... actid=5596
In the mishap, the trainee pilot, on his third F-22 sortie, raised the landing gear prematurely on takeoff.
The jet settled back on the runway and skidded about 3,400 feet.
At the time, an accident board estimated the cost to repair at $34 million.
The jet is now at Ogden Air Logistics Center, according to a Lockheed Martin spokesman, but the remaining work will be done at Hill AFB, Utah; the repairs are expected to take four years.
An Air Force official said USAF will likely fix any grounded F-22s, if repairable, given the extremely small size of the fleet and the type’s importance to air dominance.
Another candidate repairable aircraft is Raptor 06, the sixth test article, which is grounded at Edwards AFB, Calif.
There’s no estimate of how much it would cost to remove the jet’s flight test instrumentation, repair it, and bring it up to the current configuration, but USAF and Lockheed officials said they are “studying” the feasibility.

‘Rapid Raptor’ .....
US Air Combat Command might have too few Lockheed Martin F-22s, but the recently conceived “Rapid Raptor” method for quick-reaction fighter jet deployments is proving so successful that it might be extended to other airframes.
The method pairs four F-22s plus an accompaniment of pilots, maintainers, fuel and weapons with the Boeing C-17 strategic airlifter for self-contained, rapid global deployments with 24h.

(GRDCS) Gulf Range Drone Control System.

The F-22 Raptor is one of the military’s most powerful weapons, but everything—man, woman, sentient rotted orange - has a weakness.
For the fighter jet, that weakness is BEEEEEEEEEES !
In June, one of the fleet was found with a massive swarm of honey bees - as many as 20,000, according to the Air Force, which described the incident this week - attached to its exhaust nozzle.
Though some wanted to “get rid” of the bees, Tech. Sgt. Jeffrey Baskin decided to do the humane thing and call in the experts.
