At 0837:35, three seconds before impact with the runway, both
thrust levers were moved from the idle position to full forward. The autothrottle transitioned from IDLE to THRUST mode. Approximately one second later, a ground proximity warning system (GPWS) aural warning of “DON’T SINK, DON’T SINK” was annunciated.
One second before impact, both engines started to respond to the thrust lever movement showing an increase in related parameters.
At 0837:38, the Aircraft aft fuselage impacted the runway

Automatic Flight – Go–Around

Pushing either GA switch activates a go–around using multiple autopilot, single autopilot or flight director only.
When the F/D switches are not on, pushing either GA switch displays the flight director bars.
Go–around arms and the reference thrust limit changes to GA when the flaps are out of up or glideslope is captured. Arming is not annunciated. GA remains armed until two seconds after five feet radio altitude. Pushing either GA switch during this period of the approach engages the GA mode. The mode remains active even if the airplane touches down while executing the go–around.
If the airplane is floating within five feet radio altitude for more than two seconds when the GA switch is pushed, the autopilot pitch mode will remain in FLARE and the autothrottle go–around mode will engage.

If the airplane is on the ground but has been below five feet radio altitude for less than two seconds when the GA switch is pushed, the autopilot GA pitch mode will engage but the A/T mode will remain IDLE.
The GA switches are interlocked with the thrust reversers to prevent go–around mode engagement during reverse thrust operation.
Is it light where you are yet?

Insomma o resti senza A/P o resti senza A/T...

http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-emirat ... KKBN13F0C9

"A statement released by the Moscow-based Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) on April 8 suggested pilot error was to blame for the accident."

https://www.gcaa.gov.ae/en/ePublication ... tement.pdf

On Aug 5th 2017 the GCAA released an interim statement reporting the investigation is ongoing. The GCAA stated: "Regarding the operation of the flight the Investigation is working to determine and analyze the human performance factors that influenced flight crew actions during the landing and attempted go-around. In addition, the Investigation has reviewed and has identified safety enhancements related to the validity of weather information that was passed to the flight crew, and communication between air traffic control and the flight crew. A detailed examination was performed of the Aircraft evacuation systems, including the operation of emergency escape slides in a non-normal aircraft resting position, and the effects of wind on the escape slides. A large number of aircraft systems were tested with the assistance of the manufacturers and analysis of the data downloaded indicates that there were no Aircraft systems or engine abnormalities up to the time of the Accident."

Rilasciato il final report:

https://www.gcaa.gov.ae/en/ePublication ... b-2020.pdf

Riassunto anche qui:

http://avherald.com/h?article=49c12302/0006&opt=0

"Causes
The Air Accident Investigation Sector determines that the causes of the Accident are:
(a) During the attempted go-around, except for the last three seconds prior to impact, both engine thrust levers, and therefore engine thrust, remained at idle. Consequently, the Aircraft’s energy state was insufficient to sustain flight.
(b) The flight crew did not effectively scan and monitor the primary flight instrumentation parameters during the landing and the attempted go-around.
(c) The flight crew were unaware that the autothrottle (A/T) had not responded to move the engine thrust levers to the TO/GA position after the Commander pushed the TO/GA switch at the initiation of the FCOM ̶ Go-around and Missed Approach Procedure.
(d) The flight crew did not take corrective action to increase engine thrust because they omitted the engine thrust verification steps of the FCOM ̶ Go-around and Missed Approach Procedure".
