Research & Development for Advanced Composite Structures (ACS) SC1+2 & New Seat Rail

TASK:

§ Development of Rapid Assembly Methods (composites joining technology) & Robust Composite Repairs for aircrafts as well as Crash Worthiness.

§ Implementation of SHM (Structural Health Monitoring) system design tools and diagnostic/ prognostic software.

§ Evaluation & study of the design, manufacture and fit-out of retrofit technologies for defence or civil use.

§ Micro Attachment systems based on biomechanics.

§ Sizing and justification of seat rail structures incl. stress reports.

§ Static strength analysis using FEM (Nastran/Patran) and hand calculation.

§ Definition of detailed design concepts.

§ Analysing of test results & validation of new designs Support for certification (Composite and sandwich analysis).



REQUIREMENTS

§ Degree in Aeronautical-/Aerospace-/Mechanical Engineering or similar.

§ Familiar to non-linear FEA.

§ Good knowledge in metallic & composite (CFRP) structure, aerospace materials application, certification procedures & requirements.

§ Excellent English skill.

§ Very good in Nastran/Patran & MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

§ Team player, flexible & reliable.

§ If possible:

- Experience in Abaqus, LS-Dyna or PamCrash.

- German language skill will be bonus.





Stress analysis



§ Calculation and analytical sizing of metallic (primary/secondary) structural parts. It covers the spectrum from feasibility studies, pre-design, development, modification to in-service support and technical assessments.

§ Creation and analysis of both linear & non-linear FEM for dimensioning of metallic parts.

§ Creation of input data and perform global and detailed FEM models.

§ Preparation of Stress Sheets, Stress Reports, Justification reports and relevant ACD4/6s.

§ Responsible for the validation and certification of structure design against static and fatigue loads for metals & composites, the evaluation of effects of build stresses and effects of defects on the strength and durability of the assembled structure.

§ Weight optimization.

§ Definition of test requests, analysis of test results & application of results to the modelling/sizing of parts, preparation of test evaluations, stress reports and certification documentation.

§ Monitoring of schedules as well as preparation, planning and reconstructing of approval processes.

§ Provide support to design/manufacturing for Concessions and Design Query Notes.

§ The monitoring of subcontractors with regard to time and quality and check incoming deliverables.





REQUIREMENTS:

§ Degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or similar.

§ Good knowledge of design principles of typical aeronautics or other lightweight structures

§ Good knowledge in metallic & composite (hybrid/CFRP) structure, aerospace materials application, Airbus stress procedures & requirements incl. FEA, hand calculation& HSB/ESDU.

§ Very good analytical and numerical computations skills.

§ Excellent English language skills (written and spoken).

§ Very good in Nastran/Patran & MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), ISSY, ISAMI.

§ Team player, interdisciplinary thinking, flexible & reliable.

§ Good communications and presentations skills.

§ Stress resistant, proactive working attitude with ability to work autonomously.

§ Ability to work in an international and interdisciplinary team.

§ If possible:

- Good understanding of certification process & relevant Airworthiness regulations.

- Good knowledge in finding the balance of different load bearing, criteria, weight, tensile strength, fatigue, corrosion etc.

- Ability to utilize modern CAD programs to obtain necessary information for the sizing of parts.

- Good knowledge in CATIA V5, VBA, Abaqus & Hypermesh will be bonus.

- Fluent German language skills.

- Prior experience in project management will be advantageous.

- Willingness to undertake business trips and extended placements.



FATIGUE & DAMAGE TOLERANCE

TASKS:

§ Perform full F&DT report & calculation, SRM/FAS/RAS (& generate associated stress report).

§ Define repairs due to manufacture, design and or MODs with regard FDT.

§ Comparison of damages tolerance justification methods, tools & related allowables, to FE results/ manual stress calculations/concession catalogue.

§ Determine the RFs (Fatigue Quality Factors), and make proposals.

§ Review and exploit of former Full Scale Fatigue Test results.

§ Structural evaluation with regards to wide spread Fatigue Damage directive.

§ Crack propagation analysis & selection

§ Study the Effect of global failure scenarios.





A380-800 Pax FDT Cross



TASKS:

§ Responsible for 80 dimensioning (deviation) floor cross beam (S13-S18 Upper & Main Deck) using Excel-documentation tables.

§ Perform fatigue analysis and repair definition due to manufacturing/assembly/design error or MOD request.

§ Determine the notch factor, reserve factor & make proposals.

§ Support certification report and related documentation.



REQUIREMENTS (a + b):

§ Degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace/ Mechanical Engineering or similar.

§ Good knowledge of design principles of typical aeronautics structures under fatigue behaviour, damage tolerance (fracture mechanics) aspects.

§ Good knowledge in metallic & composite structure, aerospace materials application, certification procedures & requirements.

§ Excellent English skill.

§ Very good in Nastran/Patran & MS

§ Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) & VBA.

§ Team player, flexible & reliable.

§ If possible:

- Experience in using DAMTOL, DynFest/ISSY, Datig, Maxdam, FATLIFE, AVGROW or NASGRO.

- Familiar with Airbus (UK/French) fatigue life analysis methods.

- Familiar with FEM techniques, post processing, component specification & justification methods (e.g. hand calculation, FORMAN equations etc).

- Prior experience in project management will be advantageous.





Stress Support (Germany Donauwörth, EC)

Tasks:

- Stress analysis for the door and other light weight aircraft structures.

- Perform linear & non linear static analysis & strength calculation (FEA/FEM)

- Support structural optimisation





Requirements:

- Degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace/Mechanical engineering or similar

- Min 1-3 years of experience in stress and 3 stress years of experience in composite (Faserverbundwerkstoffen)

- Good knowledge in MSC Nastran/Patran, Hypermesh/Hyperworks

- Knowledge in Optistruct and MKS Simulation will be bonus

- Good knowledge in Airbus stress procedure and process (HSB)

- Good English

- Independent, reliable, team player, coordination skills

- Willingness to work overtime and readiness to travel within short notice (business trip)
