Space Launch System ... "wet dress rehearsal" prima del test di accensione previsto per il 17 Gennaio ...
NASA conducted the seventh test of the SLS core stage Green Run test series – the wet dress rehearsal – on Dec. 20 at NASA’s Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi and marked the first time cryogenic, or super cold, liquid propellant was fully loaded into, and drained from, the SLS core stage’s two immense tanks.
The wet dress rehearsal provided structural and environmental data, verified the stage’s cryogenic storage capabilities, demonstrated software with the stage’s flight computers and avionics, and conducted functional checks of all the stage’s systems.
The end of the test was automatically stopped a few minutes early due to timing on a valve closure.
Subsequent analysis of the data determined the valve’s predicted closure was off by a fraction of a second, and the hardware, software, and stage controller all performed properly to stop the test.
The team has corrected the timing and is ready to proceed with the final test of the Green Run series.

Riporto la notizia, che per il nostro paese è importante, anche in questa discussione ...

La NASA ha scelto gli enti che parteciperanno alla ricerca scientifica nell'ambito dell'imminente missione del "James Webb Space Telescope" ...
Mission officials for NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope have announced the selection of the General Observer programs for the telescope’s first year of science, known as Cycle 1.
These specific programs will provide the worldwide astronomical community with one of the first extensive opportunities to investigate scientific targets with Webb.
The 286 selected proposals address a wide variety of science areas and will help fulfill NASA’s overarching mission to further our understanding of the universe and our place in it.
Webb will begin observing the universe in 2022 after the spacecraft unfolds, travels a million miles, and checks the functioning of all of its instruments.

Sarà della partita anche la Scuola Normale Superiore dell'Università di Pisa ...
The largest space telescope ever constructed, the James Webb (JWST), is to be launched on 31st October from the European spaceport of Kourou, in French Guiana.
The experiment proposed by the Cosmology group led by Andrea Ferrara will be studying the formation and evolution of the first galaxies, around 13 billion light years away from Earth.
The Scuola Normale is the only Italian research center among the 77 selected in the “Galaxies” sector.

Missione "SpaceX Crew-4" ... tutto quello che dovete sapere in merito ...
NASA and SpaceX once again are gearing up to launch astronauts on an American rocket and spacecraft to the International Space Station as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program.
NASA’s SpaceX Crew-4 is the fourth crew rotation mission that will carry an international crew of four astronauts on a science expedition to the microgravity laboratory.
NASA astronauts Kjell Lindgren, Bob Hines, and Jessica Watkins, as well as ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, will launch aboard a Crew Dragon spacecraft.
The mission is scheduled to lift off no earlier than Wednesday, April 20, from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The crew will spend several months conducting science and maintenance aboard the orbiting laboratory before the four astronauts return to Earth in the fall of 2022.
