What is the cost of the training phase of the Cadet Pilot Training Program?
The training phase of the Qantas Cadet Pilot Training Program is a self-funded course and all costs associated with the course are the responsibility of the Cadet. Qantas receives no payment from the training schools.
Costs are set by the individual flying schools and vary from school to school. Final costs for each school will be advised to successful Cadet applicants during the information day to be held in February 2006.
2006 Cadets should expect to pay at least A$88,000 for the Level 1 Program and at least A$42,000 for the Level 2 Program. Accommodation, if required, is additional to these costs.
If I am accepted as a Qantas Cadet, does that mean I am a Qantas employee?
No, Cadet Pilots are not employees of Qantas and Qantas gives no guarantee or commitment of future employment at any time after completion of the training program.
At completion of the training phase, successful Cadets will have:
A Commercial Pilot (Aeroplane) Licence (CPL(A))
A Command (Multi Engine Aeroplane) Instrument Rating
Credits for all Airline Transport Pilot (Aeroplane) Licence theory subjects
Instruction designed to enhance the Cadets' aircraft management and multi-crew skills and their knowledge of Qantas operating procedures
100 hours as pilot in command of a fixed wing aircraft
Approximately 200 hours total flying time supplemented by additional flight simulation time
10 hours of dual aerobatics
Observation flights on Qantas services may also be included at a suitable time during the training program.

Stage 3:
Two or three days of assessment comprising a Simulator Flight Assessment, a Panel Interview and an Occupational Health Assesment (OHA). A non-refundable fee of A$180 is charged by Qantas for the OHA.
