Fonte ..... " Welsh: Modernise USAF or risk more lives in future conflict" .....The military head of the US Air Force has warned that the cost of not modernising front-line combat aviation forces “will be measured in terms of lives lost of friendly forces”.
Speaking at a press event during a trilateral air combat exercise with French and British forces at Langley AFB in Virginia, Gen Mark Welsh says the last 15 year of air warfare in the Middle East have not been sufficiently challenging to drive military modernisation politically and monetarily, but meanwhile advanced, overlapping counter-air systems continue to proliferate globally.
“Unfortunately, there’s nothing operationally today that’s driving that modernisation,” he says.
“Air forces that fall behind the technology curve will fail. We can’t let that happen.”

A. Tirpak (12/22/2015)
The F-35 program delivered all 45 of the fighters it was supposed to deliver in 2015, reprising its 2014 performance, when it delivered all 36 of the jets planned in that year, the Joint Strike Fighter System Program Office announced Monday ..... http://www.jsf.mil/news/docs/20151221_Goal.pdf
This represents a 25 percent production increase in one year, the SPO noted.
“Meeting aircraft production goals is a critical stepping stone in demonstrating the program is ready for the expected significant ramp-up” in the coming years, program executive officer Lt. Gen. Christopher Bogdan said in the statement.
Lockheed Martin program manager Lorraine Martin called the milestone a “clear demonstration of our growing maturity and stability.”
The 45 jets delivered in 2015 included 26 F-35As for the Air Force; eight F-35Bs for the Marine Corps; eight F-35Cs for the Navy/Marine Corps; the first two F-35As for the Royal Norwegian Air Force; and one F-35A for the Italian Air Force.
Of the F-35As, 17 (including the international jets) went to Luke AFB, Ariz., where operational training is performed; the rest went to Eglin AFB, Fla., where initial training is conducted; Hill AFB, Utah—where initial operational capability is expected in August of 2016—and Nellis AFB, Nev., which conducts operational test and evaluation.
More than 150 production F-35s of all variants have been delivered, having accumulated more than 45,000 flight hours, states the release.

This news is another blow to the Pentagon’s Joint Strike Fighter, which is fast approaching a critical deadline this year to declare the Air Force F-35A variant operational.
The pressure is also on for the fighter jet to make its expected European debut at the Farnborough Air Show in the UK this summer.
In an embarrassment for a program with years of cost overruns and schedule delays already under its belt, the plane was forced to skip Farnborough in 2014 after an engine fire grounded the fleet.

L'intero articolo ..... "Fleet-wide F-35 fix targets fuel tank over-pressurisation" .....The concurrency curse has struck the Lockheed Martin F-35 again, this time during lightning protection qualification, when it was discovered the jet’s fuel tanks could over-pressurise “beyond design limits” in certain flight profiles.
With 154 aircraft delivered to date, and another year of testing remaining, the concurrent development and fielding of aircraft has dogged the F-35 programme since its inception, with major discoveries often leading to delays and expensive fixes or workarounds.
The “low-risk potential” that air in the fuel system could over-pressurise an F-35’s fuel tanks, was identified in late 2014 during lightning protection qualification, and was confirmed again in follow-on tests last year, a spokesman for the Joint Programme Office (JPO) tells Flightglobal.
