Egypt has agreed a deal to buy 46 MiG-29 multirole fighters in a deal that could be worth around USD2 billion, Russian business daily Vedomosti reported on 25 May.
The deal is expected to be signed in "the nearest future", according to two sources in the Russian aviation industry cited by the newspaper.

The US Air Force’s top acquisition executive says the service wants to do more to support the sale of American-made aircraft and parts abroad, and one proposal gaining momentum is to complete airworthiness certification even before foreign military sales (FMS) cases emerge.
William LaPlante, air force assistant secretary for acquisition, says that normally the military airworthiness certification process starts at the point of sale, but several domestic manufacturers have expressed interest it certifying their products by the air force sooner to make those items more attractive on the international market.

Egypt will receive eight Lockheed Martin F-16 Block 52 Vipers from the United States in the coming days following an uptick in diplomatic relations between the two nations.
The US Embassy in Cairo says eight jets will arrive at Cairo West Air Base by 31 July followed by four more sometime between September and November.
French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian talked about the Rafale fighter jet but did not pitch the Mistral helicopter carrier in meetings in Malaysia with his counterpart, Hishammuddin Hussein, a defense official here said Tuesday.
Le Drian has not visited India on his way back to France, the official said.
A visit to India had been planned, French website La Tribune had reported.

Malaysia's Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein has denied media reports that the country is considering the Sino-Pakistani JF-17 Thunder as part of its Air Force modernization plans.

Kuwait is expected to sign a deal to buy 28 Eurofighter aircraft on Jan. 31, an Italian Ministry of Defense source has told Defense News.
“Italian Defense Minister Roberta Pinotti has been invited by Kuwait to attend the signing for 28 Eurofighter aircraft on Sunday in Kuwait,” the source said on Wednesday.
Italy, which is one of the four industrial partners on the Eurofighter program alongside the UK, Spain and Germany, has taken the lead in marketing the aircraft to Kuwait.
