Servono eccome!

Algeria is considering the C-17, the Airbus A400M and the upgraded Ilyushin Il-76MD90 for a possible order of between four and six aircraft.
Boeing performed flight demonstrations of the C-17 in the country in 2013, expecting a decision to be made in 2014.

Air Mobility Command will stand down two C-17 squadrons over the next two years and move the units’ 16 total airplanes into backup status as part of a cost-saving plan laid out in Fiscal 2015 defense legislation, announced the command on Monday.

Officials will inactivate the 17th Airlift Squadron at JB Charleston, S.C., in this fiscal year, followed by the 10th AS at JB Lewis-McChord, Wash., next fiscal year, according to AMC’s Dec. 22 release.
Each squadron operates eight C-17s.
Moving these aircraft from the Air Force’s primary aircraft inventory to its backup aircraft inventory is expected to save the service approximately $110 million per year since BAI assets are not assigned personnel or flying hours, states the release.
AMC’s goal, however, is to return these C-17s to PAI status at some point and transfer them to the reserve components, said Maj. Gen. Michael Stough, AMC's director of strategic plans, requirements, and programs.

“We're working with our Air National Guard partners to do that, perhaps even as early as Fiscal 2016,” he said.
Back in 1993, the 17th AS became the first operational unit to receive the C-17.

(2/27/2015)
The Royal New Zealand Air Force is considering the C-17 as a replacement for its legacy C-130 airlift and Boeing 757 transport fleets, according to press reports.
"The disadvantage New Zealand has with a small budget is that we have to make a single piece of equipment do a number of jobs," said defense ministry spokesman Phil Goff, quoted in The New Zealand Herald.
Boeing is currently building the last C-17 ahead of the Long Beach, Calif., production line's closure later this year, and "we owe it to ourselves to look at it seriously while we still can," added Goff.
Neighboring Australia recently requested four additional C-17s, bringing its total fleet to 10 airframes.
Boeing built 10 unsold airframes, of which four would still notionally be available for sale to New Zealand.
Members of parliament evaluated the aircraft on an orientation flight Feb. 16.

The Royal Canadian Air Force accepted delivery of its fifth and final CC-177 (the Canadian designation for the C-17) on March 30 in Trenton, Ontario, according to a March 30 RCAF release .....

Canadian Defense Minister Jason Kenney, who joined RCAF Commander Lt. Gen. Yvan Blondin to welcome the aircraft, said the five airlifters give Canada an advantage in “projecting our presence around the world.”
He also noted Canadian forces and equipment can now move around the world quickly in response to “urgent military and humanitarian missions.”
The extra Globemaster extends the life expectancy of the Canadian fleet by around seven years, and the RCAF is now projected to have at least three CC-177s available for operations about 90 percent of the time—a nearly 25 percent jump in airlift capability.
Canada’s Globemaster fleet has been instrumental in the deployment of Canadian forces to support counter-ISIS operations in Iraq and Syria, in the country’s Arctic territory, and has delivered supplies to RCAF fighters supporting NATO reassurance initiatives in Europe.
Boeing anticipates closing the California production line of the airlifter for good by mid-2015, based on current and expected international orders .....
