Per essere imparziali occorre riconoscere che, in tema di "gite", anche la controparte americana si è data parecchio da fare e molto spesso... con dubbi risultati.

Penso abbiate capito perfettamente a cosa mi riferivo: la Russia ha avuto più morti di qualsiasi altro paese del mondo negli ultimi tre secoli e tutti a causa di aggressioni straniere, da Napoleone in poi. Per questo strategicamente non ama avere forze straniere direttamente sui suoi confini. Se so che uno non ama il solletico, perchè grattargli le ascelle?
Riguardo al caso Donald Cook non ho nulla di dimostrabile, tutta via chiedendo in giro l'unica cosa che sono riuscito a capire è che i "bombardieri" russi mandati a "provocare" gli "occidentali" in realtà sono nella grande maggioranza dei casi aerei ELINT e non bombarideri. A furia di fare missioni elint i russi sarebbero riusciti ad avere un'idea molto chiara del sistema AEGIS e di molti altri sistemi nato e in modo neanche tanto difficile o complicato: sarebbero riusciti a "collaborare" elettronicamente con l'AEGIS in modo da rimandargli segnali amichevoli e identificativi di aerei amici. (In realtà ci sarebbe molto altro ma non ci capisco nulla di elettronica, figuriamoci di elettronica in russo).

E loro invece mi sa che devono spiegare come mai due tizi con un aereo di quarant'anni fà pare siano riusciti ad accecare, assordare e ammutolire il sistema AEGIS: mi sembrano parecchie cosucce da spiegare a chi li paga.
(Mi chiedo come mai la Donald Cook sia tornata in porto, ma non era meglio rimanere e far finta di niente?? A meno che il comandante americano non sia stato ancora più furbo, chiudendo subito baracca e burattini, spegnendo tutto e facendo finta di essere accecato).

Non riesco ancora a capire il nesso tra i milioni di morti in URSS, il solletico e via dicendo...
La maggior parte degli aerei intercettati saranno ELINT/SIGINT/AEW, ma è giusto ricordare che la maggior parte degli intercettatori sono velivoli NATO e non statunitensi... Norvegesi, inglesi, danesi, portoghesi, olandesi... Che ben poco hanno dei provocatori.
Inoltre, alla bisogna, si può sempre chiedere alla Norvegia di non far più parte della NATO, come pure alla Polonia, all'Estonia, Lettonia e Lituania ( anche se quest'ultime non rappresentano una seria minaccia)... Si può chiedere qualcosa in merito pure alla Svezia, noto paese aggressore ( a forza di polpette IKEA sta facendo morire un sacco di obesi).

The Air Force and its industry partners launched a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket carrying a National Reconnaissance Office payload into space from Vandenberg AFB, Calif.
"This Atlas V launch marked the last of the year and I am very proud of the teamwork that led to the success of not only today's launch, but those that preceded," said Col. Keith Balts, 30th Space Wing commander, of the Dec. 12 mission in Vandy's release.

The Atlas configuration used in the mission, designated NROL-35, had four solid rocket boosters, along with the Atlas V's main engine.

The F-15Cs of the 493rd Fighter Squadron claimed top fighter squadron honors, winning the 2014 Raytheon Trophy, officials announced on Wednesday.

The unit deployed four times last year including NATO air policing rotations to Lithuania and Iceland, an emergency dispatch to Lithuania when Russia invaded Ukraine, and a quick-notice allied assurance mission to Bulgaria.
In Lithuania, the "Reapers" intercepted 31 Russian aircraft in and around NATO airspace, flew 221 armed over watch sorties.
They deployed six additional F-15Cs to the Baltic in less than 20 hours, in response to Russian aggression.
They continued operations in Lithuania through an alert rotation to Iceland, totaling 195 days of split-deployment, according to unit officials.
"I'm constantly in awe of what the team accomplishes," said former 493rd FS Commander Lt. Col. John Stratton.
The unit has won the Raytheon Trophy four times, most recently in 2007, according to the release.


The 493rd Fighter Squadron F-15Cs intercept, identify and escort Russian Federation air force fighters during a NATO air police tasking.
The squadron is assigned to Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England, and provides all-weather air superiority and air-to-ground precision combat capability, day or night.

Deux bombardiers lourds Tupolev Tu-95 Bear ont survolé la Manche le 28 janvier, provoquant un affolement des défenses aériennes du Royaume-Uni, de Norvège et de France.
Les écoutes des échanges radio ont révélé que l'un des deux bombardiers stratégiques transportait une arme nucléaire, qui était probablement inerte.

The RAF Eurofighter Typhoons intercepted and identified several groups of aircraft, including four Sukhoi Su-34 strike aircraft, four MiG​-31 interceptors, and a pair of Antonov An-26 tactical airlifters on July 24, according to officials.
"Air interceptions such as this highlight the vital importance of the UK's contribution to the Baltic air policing mission and demonstrate our collective resolve to protect NATO airspace alongside our allies," British Defense Secretary Michael Fallon said in the release.
The RAF Typhoons rotated to Ämari on May 1 alongside Royal Norwegian Air Force F-16s to provide top cover for NATO's Baltic allies, and are slated to remain through August.
Allied jets on Baltic air policing duties were scrambled seven times to intercept Russian military aircraft operating without transponders or filed flight plans last week, the Baltic Course reported .....

Moscow has dispatched a specialized spy ship off the coast of Hawaii with the likely mission to monitor the U.S. Navy led Rim of the Pacific 2016 exercise, USNI News has learned.
A Russian Navy Bal’zam-class, “auxiliary general intelligence ship recently arrived in international waters off Hawaii where exercise Rim of the Pacific is taking place,” U.S. Pacific Fleet spokesman Lt. Clint Ramsden told USNI News this week.
“The ship’s presence has not affected the conduct of the exercise and we’ve taken all precautions necessary to protect our critical information.”
While it wasn’t unusual at all in during the Cold War for Russian spy ships to linger off the coast of the U.S. to suck up signals intelligence information or monitor exercises like RIMPAC, the Russians have been lax in their surveillance until recently.

The increased activity comes after Russian aircraft had not flown near Alaska for about two and a half years.
While the Pentagon doesn’t know what Russia’s thinking was behind the intercepts, there was a maintenance issue with the bomber fleet that kept them grounded during this span.
So the increase could be related to the aircraft returning to regular flight.
