Currently undergoing Life Extension Program (LEP) which includes structural and avionics upgrades.
The RNZAF is currently looking at a replacement aircraft for its fleet of C-130H Hercules.
Aircraft such as the Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules, or A-400M are possible replacements.
The RNZAF is also looking for a short haul aircraft such as the C-27J since the retirement of the Andovers in 1998.
The C-130H are due for replacement in 2018.

Ureña-Raso, executive vice president for Military Aircraft at Airbus Defense and Space, resigned Jan. 29, effective immediately.

The French forces are flying the C-130 and C-160 a great deal, and the A400M is in a different class from the former, a US official said.
The US special forces arm C-130s with the Raytheon Griffin.
The Hercules is the largest item for the US on the French acquisition list.

It also will watch progress in development and production, and plans on-site visits at the final-assembly line in Seville, Spain, and other A400M-production facilities.

The French air force is seeking to purchase four C-130J Super Hercules under a foreign military sales deal to fill a gap left by Airbus A400M delivery delays, reported Air & Cosmos .....

The French defense ministry requested funds this week to buy or lease the airlifters, according to IHS Jane's, two of which would be equipped with refueling pods to support helicopters.
The French air force also plans to possibly modify two of its legacy C-130Hs as armed special operations aircraft, Jane's reported .....

The French air force has received six A400Ms thus far, according to manufacturer Airbus, and is already employing the type in support of operations in West Africa.
French A400Ms were grounded except for "priority flights" directly supporting combat operations after the fatal crash of an A400M in Spain earlier this month, Bloomberg reported .....
