Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that New Zealand neighbour Australia has four P-8As, with orders for an additional eight examples.
Despite competition from maritime patrol aircraft such as the Saab Swordfish and Kawasaki P-1, Boeing says it sees sustained interest in its P-8A Poseidon from Asian and Middle Eastern countries, especially after lowering its cost and adding an additional crew workstation.
Just last week the Royal New Zealand Air Force agreed to buy four of the maritime patrol aircraft for $1.6 billion. And, in June 2018, South Korea purchased four P-8A Poseidons for $1.7 billion.
The sustained interest has the manufacturer projecting that it could sell as many as 200 examples of the aircraft over the type's lifetime, including 75 orders from non-US customers.
The aircraft has been ordered by the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, India and Norway.
"Why you are seeing a lot of interest is because we have the price down to the lowest it's ever been," said Matt Carreon, head of global sales and marketing for the aircraft.
"The costs have gone down over 30 percent from the start of the programme."

The US State Department has cleared the potential sale of six Boeing P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) to South Korea.
The package is valued at $2.1 billion, says the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (*).
In addition to the aircraft and their engines, which are based on the 737 airliner, the package includes a range of mission systems, support, and training.
Senior officers from the Royal Air Force (RAF) and Royal Navy (RN) have admitted that, despite the UK's closing its Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) gap with the acquisition of nine new Boeing P-8A Poseidons, there are unlikely to be sufficient aircraft to properly address emerging threats and create the required “mass” to have an impact on global maritime operations.
Answering questions from AIN at a recent UK Air Power conference hosted by the Royal Aeronautical Society in London, the two senior officers - who spoke under the Chatham House Rule - said that in ideal circumstances they would like more P-8 Poseidons.
“Yes, I'd like more P-8s; you'd be surprised if I said I'd like less,” said the RN officer.
The RAF officer concurred, “Of course, we would love more P-8s,” although he outlined to AIN that mass is more than just aircraft numbers and involves a host of other capabilities, including greater connectivity between platforms and acquiring fifth-generation fighters such as the F-35.
For Boeing, the effort made in adapting the 737NG to perform maritime patrol aircraft duties is now paying dividends, although it still has some way to go with turning a profit on its 767-based KC-46A tanker.
The US Navy today has more P-8A Poseidons than the Lockheed Martin P-3 Orions they are replacing, and Australia and India also rely on the type to protect their maritime interests.
The UK will boost that list of operators from later this year, followed by Norway in 2021, and New Zealand and South Korea also plan to field examples next decade.

The UK Royal Air Force (RAF) is on track to restore its lapsed maritime patrol aircraft capability within the next nine months, according to Air Commodore Rich Barrow, senior responsible owner for the service’s Boeing P-8 and E-7 acquisitions.
Speaking at the Royal International Air Tattoo on 19 July, one week after the RAF's first P-8A Poseidon airframe had made its flight debut, Barrow said: "From 1 April next year we are going to have UK maritime patrol capability operating from UK soil for the first time in a number of years."
The UK's first two P-8A Poseidon MRA1 crews have already completed training at the US Navy's (USN's) NAS Jacksonville site in Florida, while other members of its personnel have retained maritime patrol experience via Project Seedcorn placements with the USN and other nations over the past decade.

The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) is funding a project to expand the search and rescue (SAR) capability of the Boeing P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft.
The work is taking place NAS Patuxent River and has seen P-8As deploy the UNIPAC III SAR kit, according to a NAVAIR statement (*).
• Maritime Patrol System France and Germany also reaffirm the objective to award, in early 2020, a contract for a feasibility study for the Maritime Patrol Aircraft project (MAWS).
Boeing believes possible upgrades to its P-8 maritime patrol aircraft, including the integration of new anti-ship cruise missiles, bombs, sea mines and decoys, among other payloads, could help it increase international sales potential.
The US Naval Air Systems Command solicited potential contractors on 28 January to integrate a variety of weapons on the aircraft via a request for information notice posted online.

Boeing has completed the painting of the first P-8A Poseidon for the Royal Norwegian Air Force.
The maritime patrol/anti-submarine aircraft was rolled out from the Renton, Washington paint shop in full 333 Skvadron colors, including the well-known “Saint” on the fin, which was derived from the Simon Templar character in a series of Leslie Charteris novels and used by the squadron as its callsign.
Serialled 9562, the aircraft is to be named Vingtor, continuing a tradition of applying Norse names to the RNoAF’s maritime patrol aircraft established in the 1940s with the naming of three Consolidated PBY-5 Catalina flying-boats.
